Something slightly different – a time to think…..

Today I want you tho have a think and a chat about this question. The answer may seem obvious but is it?!
This is a P4C (Philosophy 4 Children) task. There is no correct answer and you may change your view as you complete the task!

Can kindness change the world?

Have a think about some of these to help you….
Is it good to be kind all the time to everyone?
What do you think would happen if everyone did this? Think about how kindness makes you feel.
Is it more important to be kind to yourself or to others, or is it of equal importance?
Think about the effect of kindness and unkindness on the world.

What do you think? Let us know in the normal place!

Stay safe and ponder hard!

Here is some of the work you have done.

Thea from Oak base said it’s nice to give messages of love to friends. She drew a picture of her giving a card to her friend

Mmmmmm tasty!

Today’s challenge is lip-smackingly tasty….hopefully!

Design and make a healthy meal for the family…..then eat it!

Can you include your favourite vegetables for vitamins?

Extra points for making the food look colourful and delicious.

We can’t wait to see your creations so please send us in your photos…..

Stay safe and get cooking!

Dempsey has planned out his menu and it looks very healthy. He is now waiting for the shopping to arrive so he can make his dinner.

Today’s electrifying activity….

This one takes me back to childhood and always makes me laugh!
You will need a balloon or two.

If you don’t have this – can you find a different experiment to carry out?

Please send in photos showing the outcomes!

Here are the outcomes of today’s challenge from Year R:

Mia found that the balloon stuck to her hair and gave her a funny hairdo!

Rainbows

Lots of children across the country are making pictures of rainbows and putting them up in their windows so when people walk past it makes them smile.

So here’s a challenge from the Year R team: Can you create a rainbow to put in your window? For an extra element to this challenge why not try and mix some colours together to make the colours that are needed.

Send your amazing art work to the Year R email address and we will put some of the work on the blog to brighten up everyone’s day.

Keep smiling everyone and stay safe.

Here’s one to start the smiles.

Storms don’t last forever.
Dempsey from Fir base drew a rainbow for the living room window and his bedroom.

Miss Pike made a rainbow to hang in her window.

Rafe from Fir base made rainbow potions as part of his wizard school day.
Teddy from Oak base made a rainbow.
Mia from Fir Base has coloured in her own rainbow and placed it in a window to make people smile as they go past.
Esther from Fir Base made a sparkly rainbow flag to hang in her window.

A creative challenge today……

Spring has sprung! The sun is out and have you spotted and heard the birds? It’s much easier with less traffic noise I’ve found…..

Anyway, your challenge today is to create a seasonal collage.
The theme is ‘Spring’.

What does spring mean to you?
What can you see that would be great to include?
How can you make your collage stand out from the rest?

Best of luck and we look forward to seeing you awesome artwork later – please send us in your pictures to you year group e-mails.

Stay safe and have fun!

Team Valentine

Here are some Spring artwork pictures from today’s challenge:

Dempsey from Fir Base made a Spring picture showing the Easter Bunny hiding Easter eggs at sunset.
Poppy from Elm base made her Spring themed picture using bits she found in her garden.
Teddy from Oak Base made a spring picture using a potato.

You shake it to the left, you shake it to the right……

I’ve been looking forward to this challenge all week!
This should be really good fun for the family as well as testing your music skills, obviously…..

The challenge is……sing along to a number 1 song from the 1960’s!
You can pick any song from 1960 all the way through to the end of 1969. It was a fantastic time for music and much changed, so I am sure you can find a song you will love.

Extra challenge……can you sing together with somebody else as a duet?

Let us know which song you chose and why.

Thomas from Ash Base has been singing and dancing to ‘Let’s twist again’ by Chubby Checker. Great choice of song!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Listen to Eric Carle read The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Eric Carle is the author and illustrator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

How many apples did the hungry caterpillar eat?

What did the hungry caterpillar eat on Saturday?

Did the hungry caterpillar eat healthy food on Saturday? Why do we need to eat healthy food?

What did the hungry caterpillar make?

Can you draw a picture to go with the story?

Here is some of the work that children have been doing linked to the story:

Sophia from Elm Base drew the hungry caterpillar. She talked about how it is important to eat healthy so we don’t get sick.
Thea from Oak Base read the story then worked out how much healthy food he had eaten. Great job and love the pictures to show this.
Teddy from Oak Base completed some Hungry Caterpillar maths.
Esther from Fir Base drew a picture of the very hungry caterpillar.
Reece draw a picture of the very hungry caterpillar choosing the correct colours then practised his tricky words.

Buenos Dias!

Ola!
Today’s challenge is a hot one…..learn 5 new words in Spanish!
We only start learning Spanish in Key Stage 2 so Year R, 1 and 2 don’t have to do this, but why not have a go anyway?

Ideas and help can be found on the website below:
https://www.spanish-games.net/spanishtopics

If this isn’t for you, try this.
Can you think of a person’s name for every letter of the alphabet?

Good luck, stay safe and let us know how you get on!

Here are some the things you have done today.

Teddy from Oak Base read What the Ladybird Heard and found out some of the animal names.

Kian from Oak base counted to 10 in spanish (sorry I couldn’t upload the video). Can you count to 10 in spanish too?

Sophia from Elm Base worked hard to think of a name that started with every letter of the alphabet then wrote them herself. Great job!

Challenge for today!

How did you get on the daily blog challenge yesterday?
Remember to blog and let us know how you got on! Send us your pictures as well – we want to know how you got on.

On to Tuesday’s Tremendous Teaser…..
Design a machine that could help with a daily task.

Let your imagination run riot! What do you really hate having to do that you’d love a machine to do for you? How would it work? The possibilities are endless….

Good luck everyone, have fun and stay safe.

Here are some machines from today’s challenge:

Lydia from Elm Base made a machine that would know what she wanted to eat, make it for her and then feed her. Great job.
Poppy from Elm Base made a machine to make dresses now that the clothes shops are shut. You press the ‘go’ button and a dress appears.
Dempsey from Fir Base made a robot with 3 buttons. One button does his homework, one button makes him jump and one button makes him walk.
